File:Westmalle Dubbel.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

"own work"

[edit]

Hi. You've been extracting images from free sources, and then uploading them as "own work". That's not what "own work" means, and can screw up the provenance. The author of the original image is considered the author of the extracted image too.

When you extracted File:Bee-sting BHL.svg from File:The new bee-keepers' text-book (Page 79) BHL42109833.jpg, for instance, the author is still "King, Albert J.; King, Homer A.; King, N. H.", just as with the original.

I'll fix these later on; please be more careful in future. Thank you. DS (talk) 15:24, 3 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the comment. However, keep these things in mind:
  • What I uploaded were not just cutouts but vectorisations. Vectorising a bitmap requires quite some preprocessing of the original image, then fiddling with the parameters of the automated tracing tool, and then manual postprocessing of the result (in the two files you point out, zoom in well on the left zigzagging thing and look carefully to see only some of the obvious adjustments). This is work, and that work was my own.
  • The original image is in public domain, which means that technically no attribution is required in any form. Authorship is a nice to have — as you rightly point out, for provenance — but it is not required. I've linked both images both ways, making it possible to find the original for those inclined to do so. There could possibly be better templates to explain the matter — if you have those, let me know how they're called.

Make SVG

[edit]

I was reorganizing some images in the category of coats of arms of counties of Norway and stumbled across your Trøndelag coat of arms .svg file. I think it looks great and wondered if you could make another SVG coat of arms. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Graphics_Lab/Illustration_workshop#Coat_of_arms_of_Svalbard. Would be greatly appreciated if it was possible. Worldlydev (talk) 13:38, 13 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

New SVGs

[edit]

Hey Spider. I really need help with two SVGs and thought you did such a great job last time. These might be tough to crack but I hope you can help. Let me know if interested. Sincerely Worldlydev (talk) 23:51, 8 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Always happy to help! Please point me to the right direction ;) --spider (talk) 18:01, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome. Like I said these may be too difficult but I will leave that up to you to decide. Do you have another way you prefer to be contacted through besides discussions? Might be easier by email or other chat platforms. Easier to have a dialog that way. Also have some files that might help give a better start that I could share. If you have a preferred platform let me know. I should have email open for my user so you can contact me there. Sincerely Worldlydev (talk) 20:42, 15 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
