Optimizing a graph

[edit]

Hi, @Obscure2020.

Could you please again optimize this graph?

File:Diffusione quotidiani italiani (1976-2020) - Italian daily newspaper circulation (1976-2020).png

You already did a great job back in July, but now I uploaded a new version with 2022 data. If you can do it, it would be good.

Thanks alot. LucaLindholm (talk) 06:33, 4 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there! I have optimized the new version of the graph on my computer. It shrank down to about 811 KB. However, I have a problem. I am no longer allowed to overwrite files that are not mine. I tried to update yours, but I got a "Permission Denied" message. To overwrite other people's files, I need a new permission called Autopatrol. I requested that new permission status 5 days ago. A moderator called GPSLeo is blocking me because he doesn't know what PNG optimization is. So I need you to do me a favor: reply to this recent comment from GPSLeo and tell him that you appreciate my work. Tell him that I should be given permission again. Until he gives me that permission, I can't optimize any more files for anyone. Obscure2020 (talk) 15:04, 4 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Notification about possible deletion

[edit]
Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Thank you for fixing my map of Axum!

[edit]

I don't know much about mapping and I'm new to it so I didn't realize there were problems, but do you think the way I shaded western Ethiopia and the Arabian peninsula with those semi-transparent bars is good? I think they might be too few and large, or that I should've just shaded the area with a lighter color, but other maps of historical kingdoms were created similarly. MotorolaBoy (talk) 20:28, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think the way you shaded those areas made sense. I've seen very similar cross-hatched shading methods used on other maps to denote areas that are "mostly" or "sort of" claimed by some category or group. Nice work! Obscure2020 (talk) 20:56, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! MotorolaBoy (talk) 01:39, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Stumbling blocks files

[edit]

Hi, I ask you a favor: could you please do the same thing you did in File:Pietra Marco Meneghin 1.png also in File:Pietra d'inciampo Tiziano Pagotto Maniago.png? Andrek02 (talk) 07:21, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This has now been done. Thanks for pointing me toward another file in need of optimizing. Obscure2020 (talk) 02:18, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Radar Angels

[edit]

Good work on File:S band angel 1959.png, by the way - it completely slipped my mind that I'd asked for approval to edit it. Your solution (extracting images directly from the PDF) was better than mine (editing a screengrab). -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 13:20, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Ashley. I'm happy to help. I've been around the block a few times, and I've found that a surprising number of images that should be extracted (from PDFs, frames from videos, images that were embedded in websites) end up getting screenshotted instead. One of my pet peeves. I'm happy to help correct these whenever I find them. Obscure2020 (talk) 13:46, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
