English: The runestone from Rök in the province of Östergötland, Sweden, is one of the most famous runic monuments. During the past 150 years scholars have made numerous attempts to interpret it, but consensus about its content has not been reached yet. In a recent study in "Futhark: International Journal of Runic Studies", Swedish researchers Per Holmberg, Bo Gräslund, Olof Sundqvist and Henrik Williams try a completely different approach, governed by, among other things the labyrinth principle, which means that "the textual organization ... leads the reader stepwise towards the end of the inscription ... without jumps between lines that are not spatially connected."
