English: This building was modified into a church in the Christian era. Continued use may account for its relatively good condition. Its status as former workshop was proved by the discovery of molds and metal-working debris on excavation. Phidias was the artisan who designed and built the statue of Zeus in the Temple of Zeus. The various artifacts in the workshop suggest that it had a general maintainance function.
