Preserved in the Louvre collections and also named "altar of the twelve gods", in marble and dating from the 1st century AD, it comes from Gabii (Pantano site) in Italy. This curious object (undoubtedly a zodiacal or astrological altar) is decorated with the signs of the zodiac and busts of the twelve Roman gods identified by their attribute : Venus united to Mars by the little Cupid, Jupiter and his thunderbolt, helmeted Minerva, Apollo then Juno with a scepter, Neptune and his trident, Vulcan with a scepter, Mercury and his caduceus, Vesta, Diana and her quiver and finally Ceres.
