English: Sir W G Armstrong Whitworth & Co Ltd was a major British manufacturer of aramaments (as Elswick Ordnance Company), ships, locomotives, automobiles, aircraft. From its beginning in 1847 it was known as Armstrongs, from 1882 as Armstrong-Whitworth, and in 1927 it merged with Vickers to become Vickers-Armstrong.
