Summary

[edit]
Description
English: According to North Korean Propaganda, 4 North Korean torpedo boats sunk U.S. Navy heavy cruiser USS Baltimore (CA-68) on 2 July 1950. This would be impossible at the time of the battle as Baltimore was at the time in decommissioned reserve in the United States. Display in Pyongyang Victorious War Museum (Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum).
Note: The photo shows a Baltimore-class cruiser with the large AN/SPS-37 radar, which was fitted in 1960 aboard USS Helena (CA-75) and USS Los Angeles (CA-135). The actual Action of 2 July 1950 involved the U.S. Navy light cruiser USS Juneau (CL-119) as well as the Royal Navy's sloop HMS Black Swan (L57) and the light cruiser HMS Jamaica (44). Together, they destroyed several (at least 3) North Korean torpedo boats without suffering losses or damage.
