They took part in the rescue effort known as the Kintertransport (Children's Transport). Between december 1, 1938 and September 1, 1939 10.000 Jewisch children were brought to safety.

During the KUnSTPLAATS Art Route 2013 severa established artists, with support from the district Hoek van Holland, focused their work on this dramatic event."
