Summary[edit]

Description

This FDA exhibit dating from roughly the 1950s tried to draw the public’s attention to a rash of nutrition quacks promoting the idea that there was an epidemic of malnutrition in the U.S. Ironically, this was at the very same time FDA was setting food standards for enriched food products such as bread and flour following the near elimination of such nutritional deficiency diseases as rickets and pellagra.
