With (NH4)2S: Mn2+ + S2- -> MnS(s) (the light brownish powder is here disperged in yellow (NH4)2S) With NaOH: Mn2+ + 2OH- -> Mn(OH)2; 4Mn(OH)2 + O2 -> 4MnO(OH) + 2H2O (The white Mn(OH)2 powder has got a brownish color because of side reactions due to oxygen.) With NH3: Mn2+ + 6NH3 <-> [Mn(NH3)6]2- / Mn2+ + 2OH- <-> Mn(OH)2 (Both reactions occur at the same time. Because of complexation, the precipitation is lower as with NaOH.)
