Description
Nederlands: In 1683 gaf Nicolaes Visscher II (1649-1702) een serie van tien prenten uit waarin de belangrijkste fasen uit de strijd zijn vastgelegd. De prenten werden gegraveerd door Romeyn de Hooghe (1645-1708) naar tekeningen van de Antwerpse kunstenaar Jacob Peeters . Bij deze serie prenten behoorde ook deze toelichting waarin over de heldendaden van de christelijke legers bij het ontzet van Wenen in geuren en kleuren wordt verhaald.
English: In 1683, Nicolaes Visscher II (1649-1702) published a series of ten prints about the Turkish siege of the city of Vienna with the most important pictures of the war. The prints were engraved by Romeyn de Hooghe (1645-1708) after drawings from the Antwerp artist Jacob Peeters .
