This file supersedes the file 1909 Ford Advance Catalog - Model T Engine.png. It is recommended to use this file rather than the other one.

Reason why to use this file over the other file: "This file, from a newer Ford catalog, shows the same diagram more clearly, with better resolution."

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Partial cutaway view of the 1909 Ford Model T "power plant" (the engine with integrated transmission), from the 1909 Ford catalog. The cutaway portions show sectional views of the crankshaft and crankcase; the cylinder, piston, piston pin, and connecting rod; the camshaft, valves, and valve chamber; and the cylinder water jackets. The engine shown here was the very first version, with an engine-driven pump for circulating cooling water; after the first 2500 cars built, Ford switched to thermosiphon circulation. Early Model T engines also had exposed valves until later 1911. The transmission, with its control pedals, is on the left side; the starting crank is on the right.
