English: Wild bearded vulture (Gypaetus barbatus) in flight searching for food and finding a piece of carcass (Col de la Gemmi, Valais). Completely eradicated from the Alps at the beginning of the 20th century, this large predator has gradually been reintroduced in Europe. The bearded vulture feeds on the bones of dead animals, helping to reduce the spread of diseases in the wild. Image set number 1 out of 5.
Français : Gypaète barbu (Gypaetus barbatus) sauvage en vol à la recherche de nourriture et trouvant un morceau de carcasse. Complètement éradiqué des Alpes au début du XXe siècle, ce grand prédateur a été progressivement réintroduit en Europe.
